Join ALIA and ABC Education for a special Media Literacy Week webinar.

In early 2025, ABC Education, with support from Parramatta City Council Library and Western Sydney University, ran a news media education program aimed at strengthening young adults’ understanding of misinformation and news media environments in Australia.

In this webinar, Dr Aimee Hourigan, Media Literacy Producer at ABC Education, describes how the program was designed and implemented, with reflections on key learnings and participant feedback. Through this, the session aims to show the value of news literacy for young people and reflect on how future programs can continue to support young people to gain the critical media knowledge and skills to navigate the increasingly fast-paced media environments they occupy.
