Launch of the 2024 Australian Adult Media Literacy Report

Please join AMLA for the launch of the 2024 Australian Adult Media Literacy Report
Media literacy is widely recognised as a critical form of literacy that is essential for full participation in society. Until recently, we have had limited understanding of adult Australians’ media literacy attitudes, experiences, and needs.
The report will be launched in Canberra and online Monday August 19 by co-authors Associate Professor Tanya Notley, Proofessor Sora Park, Dr Simon Chambers and Professor Michael Dezuanni.The launch includes an opening address from Senator David Pocock, followed by a presentation of key findings by the report authors and a panel discussion with featured guests Associate Professor Caroline Fisher (University of Canberra) who will facilitate a discussion with Annabel Astbury (ABC Education), Cathie Warburton (Australian Library and Information Association) and Bageshri Savyasachi (The Canberra Times).
The event will be held both in-person (at the Museum of Australian Democracy, Old Parliament House) and streamed online. A light breakfast (coffee, tea, pastries) will be served from 8am with presentations from 9am – 10am.
