Living with Misinformation: celebrating the launch of a new book and guide
What a night! On 28 October 2026, we gathered at the National Film and Sound Archive of Australia (NFSA) to launch Living with Misinformation: A Media Literacy Approach and its companion resource, Living with Misinformation: A Media Literacy Guide for Action.
NFSA CEO Patrick Macintyre warmly welcomed the audience and spoke about the importance of the issue in Australian society before handing over to Cathie Warburton, CEO Australian Libraries and Information Association, who moderated the panel discussion.
The panel of the project’s principal researchers, Tanya Notley, Michael Dezuanni, Sora Park, Aimee Hourigan and T.J. Thomson shared the research’s main outputs which draw on a three-year study of the everyday media experiences and abilities of more than 4,400 Australian adults.
The audience made the evening. Their questions and enthusiasm were a joy, and the Q&A was an exceptionally high-quality discussion.
Attendees also got to explore materials from the research partners: the Museum of Australian Democracy, ABC Education, ALIA and the NFSA.
Thank you to everyone who joined us. We hope the book and guide help you start conversations in your own communities.
