Media literacy scholar Paul Mihailidis to visit Australia

This month AMLA members hosted leading U.S. media literacy scholar, Paul Mihailidis.

Dr Mihailidis is a professor of civic media and journalism and Special Advisor to the provost at Emerson College in Boston and faculty chair and director of the Salzburg Academy on Media and Global Change. Dr Mihailidis’s has consulted around the world on news and media literacies as tools for civic empowerment and meaningful engagement in communities. Dr Mihailidis is the author of Civic Media Literacies: Re-Imagining Human Connection in an Age of Digital Abundance (Routledge 2019).

Dr Mihailidis is in Australia in his role as an adviser to the Addressing Misinformation with Media Literacy project which partners with six of AMLA’s core members and is led by Western Sydney University. As part of the project he will spend time in Canberra with AMLA members at the Museum of Australian Democracy.
