Safer Internet Day: Together for a better internet

AMLA join people around the world who are celebrating Safer Internet Day 2025 on Tuesday February 11. Safer Internet Day is a global day of action that encourages communities, schools, organisations and families to work towards a safer internet. We support the slogan of ‘Together for a better internet’ which calls for collective action to help improve online safety, especially for children and young people.

AMLA members believe that all Australian media users, consumers and creators should be allowed to thrive online and enjoy safe connections, without fear or risk of harm or exclusion.

AMLA is looking forward to collaborating on the co-design of a national strategy for media literacy, which will help secure school and community initiatives – already supported by grassroots knowledge and groundbreaking research – with effective and efficient long-term funding.

Educators can use the below diagram to start a conversation with students about how media literacy connects with and complements online safety (or e-safety) and digital literacy — using the example of TikTok.
